Ser alguien en la vida

Who gets to dream and about what? Are we condemning young people’s hopes for the future as impossible from the outset?

Ser alguien en la vida (“To be somebody in life”) is a collection of texts written by young people about their dreams and fears for the future. In the film, an adult woman and a man reproduce the documentary texts word for word, looking directly into the camera, sometimes in dialogue with each other.

The documentary texts are written by young people from Uruguay themselves, as part of a workshop on the lyrics of dreaming. The texts were collected in Montevideo in 2023 for the Field of Dreams project.
